3 Best-Selling Culinary Business Secrets: Location, Location, and Location
3 Best-Selling Culinary Business Secrets: Location, Location, and Location
My business teacher once said, there are 3 best-selling culinary business secrets: location, location and location. Why is this location factor so important? My experience in the past few years having a culinary business, maybe you can make a lesson.
Let's look while enjoying a cup of coffee.
I personally have struggled in the culinary world for several years. Currently, it has 3 outlets with average daily sales which are quite good in my opinion. However, in addition to these 3 rather successful outlets, there were 2 other outlets that did not produce sales as expected, so I was forced to close.
Why does it fail? The main factor is location.
FIRST outlet that failed was located on the edge of the highway with quite busy traffic. However, this outlet does not have a proper parking space because the location is right on the shoulder of the road. Isn'T it to park a car, to park a motorcycle just hard to ask for mercy.
The location of the first outlet is also on the opposite side of the road which is dominant when people leave work. This is quite difficult for prospective buyers who want to come to this place, because they have to cross the road first, especially when they know that there is no available parking, many prospective buyers are reluctant to stop by in the end. I know this from the direct buyers who submitted their input.
Then, the SECOND Outlet that failed, was located near a residential area that was also close to the boarding houses of students. From the location side it's actually very good. But, at that time I did not do "research" in advance related to purchasing power and competition with other eating places around my culinary business location.
At that time, I sold traditional food at prices that were somewhat less able to compete with other food outlets that sold full meal packages at lower prices. This causes the average daily sales not in accordance with the target. And, finally, close.
Both of these failed outlets might be able to produce good sales if you want to be patient to wait. But, as people say, time is money. The longer the outlets open with minimal sales, of course burdensome operational costs and especially rent a place.
Business is the activity of managing and minimizing risk. Therefore, it is not wise to continue to let the business run bloody continuously. Indeed the tough decision had to close the booth. But, if that's the best, why not.
On the other hand, my three other food outlets can generate good sales. When compared with the two outlets that failed, these three successful outlets have different characteristics of the place which is the key to its success.
The following are some of the characteristics of a strategic location for a culinary business that I summarize from the three business places that still have good average sales.
1. Location Close to Offices, Schools, and Shopping Centers
My first outlet is in an urban center, which although not located on a main road, is close to office locations, several schools, and near supermarkets.
In Jaya Setiabudhi's book entitled, Open Direct Selling, he referred to potential potential buyers as ants, and activity centers that make ants gather and move as "sugar".
Anyway, you can get the book at thestore Yukbisnis- Open it right away .
Well, offices, schools, and supermarkets are the sweets that attract ants every day to leave their homes (ant nests) for activities throughout the day.
During this activity, the ants definitely need to eat and drink. Well, this factor should be taken into consideration for those of you who want to open food outlets.
Make sure your outlet is near sweets that can attract lots of ants. It would be better if your outlet is in the main path that is passed by and by the ants earlier.
2. Dominant Road Side Location Passed byOutlet Vehicle
My Secondlocated on the side of the road. Even though I rented a garage at a garage and only worked in the afternoon until the evening, apparently this second store was still able to generate decent sales.
The key to the location of this second outlet is its location on the side of the road which is relatively crowded by people (ants) when returning to their homes (anthill) in the afternoon until the evening.
This location is predominantly surrounded by housing, several small offices, workshops, close to sports fields. So, in the afternoon, the road in front of this outlet is quite crowded by vehicles of people who want to go home after a day of activities.
3. Location at the Tourist Center
The third outlet which is also good sales is located in the food court, one of the tourist centers that are quite famous. This tourist center is dominated by local and out of town tourists every weekend throughout the year. The peak of the visit usually occurs on long weekends, holidays, and holiday moments such as the new year and others.
Any ordinary day this tourist spot is quite crowded by local tourists, although not as busy as weekends. The tourist center is very interesting sugar and is able to bring a lot of ants to this location.
Thus the characteristics of 3 outlets culinary businesses that are strategic and in demand bring sales.
My own plan, there are 2 culinary business locations that will be my target in the future. For that I just write as a continuation of the 3 types of strategic culinary locations earlier yes.
4. Location Near Famous University
Campuses The campus is a center of activity for thousands of students who often move from morning to night. On the sidelines of their activities of course they need to eat and drink. Therefore, this location is very important for you to consider if you want to open a culinary business.
Please note, the characteristics of students are different from office people. Students still depend financially on their parents. Therefore, the type of food sold must also be considered in terms of price and portion.
College kids are often attracted to affordable food with satisfying portions. Especially if given a free drink, it would be more interesting.
5. Locations in / Near Malls or Large Markets
I know several culinary entrepreneurs who indeed only have food outlets in food court famousmalls in a city. The mall is a sugar that is able to attract many ants to come and spend all day there.
Famous malls or large markets in your city can have a high number of visitors every day and are worth your consideration if you are looking for a culinary business place that is crowded with visitors.
Thus, a number of strategic locations that are worthy of consideration for you to become a best-selling culinary business and many visitors.
Each location has its own characteristics that you must learn and adjust to the type of culinary you want to sell. Just how you choose and sort the location that suits you according to the type of food you sell and according to the budget funds that you prepare to rent the location.
Happy culinary business!
